"New Year, New Canvas: Brushes, Laughter, and 2024 Adventures!"
Happy New Year, wonderful souls! 🎉✨ Or should I say, Happy New Year for the 37th time? I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure there's an unspoken rule about when to stop saying it. If you have the answer, please enlighten me!
I hope you all had an absolutely fantastic holiday weekend filled with love, laughter, and maybe a touch of artistic chaos. Today isn't just New Year's Day; it's also a day of celebration for my fellow Haitians - Happy Independence Day! ðŸ‡ðŸ‡¹
Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty because I am pumped for what this year has in store. But first, a moment of reflection on the past year.
Reflecting on the Past: The Good, The Great, and the Rejections
Last year was a rollercoaster, my friends. Sold my largest painting, reopened the print shop, conquered a 100-day drawing challenge, and even hit the 1k followers mark on Instagram (cue the confetti). But, and there's always a but, I faced more rejection than a stand-up comedian at an amateur night. Grant applications, residencies, art calls - it was like my inbox had a "reject" button on repeat. But hey, that's the creative journey, right?
Reflecting on these experiences taught me the power of pivoting and the importance of resilience. Because let's face it, rejection is just redirection in disguise.
Embracing Renewal: Because Every Day is a Fresh Start
Now, the new year brings that familiar scent of freshness. A chance to hit the reset button. But here's the secret sauce - every day is a new day, a new canvas to paint your story. It's not just about January 1st; it's about waking up every morning with a burst of creative energy and a grateful heart.
Setting Artistic Goals: From Big Dreams to Including My Tiny Human
This year, I've got my eyes set on a fusion of graphic and realistic elements in my artwork. Oh, and did I mention the possibility of partnering with brands and snagging some sponsorships? Big dreams, my friends, big dreams.
But the real kicker? Involving my toddler in the creative process. Because why have her play with toys when she can create masterpieces with me? It's like a two-for-one deal – art and play all rolled into one messy, joyous adventure.
YouTube Subscribers and Watch Time Goals: Because Why Wait for January 1st?
Now, let's talk YouTube. I didn't want to wait until the new year to dive into one of my goals - hitting 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch time hours. It's like a virtual Everest, but the only way to conquer it is by showing up consistently. So, if you're into art, laughter, and occasional chaos, hit that subscribe button. Let's climb this digital mountain together!
Reflect, Set Intentions, and Co-create with God
Before I wrap this up (because let's face it, I could chat with you all day), I encourage you to take a moment to Pause. Reflect. What creative goals did you achieve last year? What dreams are the ones you're itching to reach? Set those intentions and keep them at the forefront of your creative journey. Because, my friend, you're the artist of your story.
For me, it's about co-creating with God. Prayer over canvases, co-creating with the divine, and ensuring every brushstroke is a collaboration. Because, in the end, the best artwork is created when it's a masterpiece shared between creator and Creator. We’ll be turning each canvas into a masterpiece infused with prayer and paint.
Here's to laughter, creativity, and painting our stories on the canvas of 2024!
Creatively Yours,
Keshna Donia
